Ask about your options
Using Medicare?
For the usual GP pathway, arrange a Mental Health Treatment Plan and a valid referral. Eligible referrals can also come from a psychiatrist or paediatrician. Check your eligibility and available sessions. A plan alone does not replace the referral.
Using private health?
Benefits depend on your insurer, policy and the service. Ask your insurer what is covered and what you need to provide before choosing a session.
Using NDIS funding?
Check that the psychology support fits your plan and funding. Self-managed sessions are paid when you book; for plan-managed sessions, your plan manager is invoiced after the session.
